Once you have seen your doctor and had your pregnancy confirmed you will be offered an appointment to see our midwife. This will usually be at about 8-10 weeks and is held at No 1 Worcester Street. The midwife will explain lots of issues and arrange first scans, blood tests etc and give you information books and leaflets. These appointments are held from 1.45 - 3.30pm on two afternoons per week.
The midwife will also advise you of your next appointment at the antenatal clinic at 24 Worcester Street. You will then be seen at various intervals during your pregnancy in the antenatal clinic at the main surgery, by the midwife and usually by a doctor at around 28 and 36 weeks. For all appointments, we ask that you bring a specimen of urine and your antenatal notes (which will have been given to you at your first appointment with the midwife).
The doctor will see you for your postnatal check at approximately six weeks following the birth of your baby, for which you will receive a written appointment. During this appointment the doctor will examine your baby for his/her first developmental check. Please bring the baby’s ‘red book’, which you will have been given by the health visitor.
