We are pleased to inform you that we now hold anticoagulation clinics at the practice on Friday afternoons. These clinics are run by nursing staff from the Anticoagulation Team at Russells Hall and Corbett Hospitals.
If you are interested in attending these clinics for your checks, please discuss this at the hospital when you have your next blood test.
Please note – appointments are generated and managed from the Anticoagulation Clinic at the hospital only and not by Worcester Street Surgery.
For enquiries, please contact the Anticoag Team on 01384 244048
EMIS Access is a 24 hour online service that can be used at any time of the day or night. You can use it to view, book or cancel appointments at the surgery from home, work or on the move. It can also be used to order repeat prescriptions, amend your practice registration details or send secure messages straight to the practice. You can even access the service from internet enabled mobile phones.
To register for EMIS Access please complete the form below. Your details will be sent to you via post.
Access to the building is via a concrete ramp. A toilet for the disabled is situated on the ground floor. If you are unable to climb stairs please let us know so that you can be seen downstairs.
The surgery has a limited number of disabled car parking spaces at the front of No.22 Worcester Street (next door to the main surgery).
We are a teaching practice for both University of Birmingham medical students and GP registrars. The latter, who are doctors having already had extensive hospital service and hoping to enter general practice, may be invited to join the practice for six to twelve months to gain insight into general practice. They are very capable, fully qualified doctors. Some surgeries are videoed but always with patients' consent. Please accept them as one of us. As we also teach medical students, at our medical training centre based at No 1 Worcester Street, you may sometimes be asked if you mind a student sitting in on a consultation.
Volunteers Required
Do you have time to talk to one of our medical students?
As a teaching practice medical students from Birmingham Medical School regularly visit the surgery as part of their training to become doctors.
At the surgery we like to give them the opportunity to talk to patients about their particular illness or problem. This gives the students a valuable insight into living with a long-term illness, and the effects it can have on both the patient and their families.
Clinical Skills Sessions
We are always looking for volunteers to help with the students’ clinical skills sessions. This allows students to practice taking blood pressure, visual acuity and reflexes. These sessions are always supervised by one of our doctors.
If you have an illness you feel you could discuss with one of our students, or would like to volunteer for one of the skills sessions.
Please leave your name at Reception at either the Main Surgery or the Medical Training Centre or tel 01384 370713.
We welcome your comments and suggestions on the facilities and services provided by the Practice.
Should you have any useful suggestions or indeed, any complaints regarding the service we provide, please contact our Practice Manager, Cathryn Bateman who will endeavour to help you.
A copy of our complaints procedure form can be viewed below or alternatively a copy can be obtained from Reception.
Setting the Standard
Having achieved initial recognition in 2004 we would like to proudly announce that the surgery has retained our IIP status
following reassessment.
